Good evening Bookworms,
I hope that everyone is well and that you are just as excited as I am about this next book review. This book, The Crash by, Freida McFadden was given me to read by a coworker. She thought I would enjoy it. I will not turn down a book so I agreed to take it and thanked her kindly.
The Crash by, Freida McFadden, is not a book that I heard of in her list of books that’s passing through the book toc’s. I have heard of her other books that are currently passing through book toc such as, The Housemaid Series. So when The Crash was given to me I couldn’t help buy wonder if The Crash came before or after The Housemaid Series. That prompted me to do some research and I found out The Crash was published in 2025 after the 2024 publication of The Housemaid is Watching (the last of the three Housemaid books). Which I have read none of the three. I don’t like to read books while they are in their “popular everyone wants to do a book toc on it” stage. Instead I wait until the dust settles on them to read those kinds of books. It’s more satisfying to me that way. I do have the complete Housemaid Series but they are not currently in my eye sight to read any time soon.
With excitement in my heart and my favorite drink and snacks I’d curl up and make the time to read this book day in and day out. I started reading The Crash on March 11, 2026 and finished it March 27, 2026. That’s not bad. I’ve been doing good with reading and staying off of the digital world. If you haven’t already, check out the My Writing Road Block blog series to get caught up on that topic. I was super proud of myself when I realized how quick I went through this book. It was a page turner. The suspense and mystery really did keep my attention.
McFadden did a good job with the character building of Tegan, the main character. The trauma she experienced was written with careful detail, as not to spoil the storyline. McFadden spoon feeds it to the reader. I liked this technique. I have read some books that don’t reveal enough of what is going on in the characters life to keep me interested and I’ve read others that gave more information then they should have. McFadden had an even balance which made it easy to get lost in the book with the turn of each page.
The middle of the story where the plot was at its thickest, I felt that part was a little drawn out. I wanted it to go a little faster than it did. The days kind of repeated themselves in the story. After the third day of the crash the story seemed to move quicker.
The ending which I will not spoil but will say had a twist that I had not seen coming. It definitely took me by surprise and I had to stop reading to process what I had just read. Honestly I reread the ending because I couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing. I do recommend this book by Freida McFadden. I give it 4 stars out of 5 only because I felt like the storyline slowed down a little between the second and third day after the crash. If you have read the book feel free to leave comments below about your thoughts. If not I say it’s worth the read.
Until next time Bookworms, stay safe, and stay positive.
