Episode 2:

***If you haven’t read Episode 1 go to my page and read that 3 paragraph intro in order understand episode 2.***

My audience in the retirement community grew from four to fifteen. One night, a staff member that worked for the community noticed what I was doing and stopped me on my way back to my room. She asked me questions about my stories, and I told her some of it is my past and some of it is what I call filler, which is told to enhance the story. She wanted to know so much more and kept asking me questions. I wasn’t sure what was happening in the young lady’s mind, so I kindly told her I wanted to get back to my room to rest. The next words she said to me changed my life. “I want to start a You Tube channel for you, of you telling your stories.”

Now I know what You Tube is and how it works. I watch it but never in a million years did I think I would be in it. Before I truly had decided to do it, I did take the time to think about it. I’m such a private person that the thought of it felt intimidating at first. What made it feel better was that I liked telling my stories. People enjoyed listening to me and I learned to love the attention of my current audience.

When Jessica, the staff member, began recording me for my new You Tube channel, nothing changed. She put the camera in a place that I wouldn’t really notice so that helped. I actually forgot we were recording, and the story flowed naturally before the audience and the camera.

I didn’t expect anything to change after the videos started to post either, but people watched the videos and they loved them. The more the videos came, the more people watched them on You Tube. Jessica took the time to show me all the details of my You Tube channel. She also started showing me how to fix my videos, so they look good for posting. She’s so smart and I’m so glad she’s taking the time to teach me. I’m getting better but I’m still learning.

Now that you’re all caught up, you’ll understand why I’m rushing and why I feel like a break would be nice. Three months on You Tube has me tired. We do this every day at 7 p.m. The main seating area holds 80 people, which I have yet to have a full house. When it’s time, I make my way to the large wing back chair. Sitting, I sink into the chair, the softness of the cushion relaxes me. I take a deep breath and mentally remove myself from Moore’s Retirement Community.
